MBTA FAMILY NEWSLETTER

March 4, 2021

Dear MBTA families:
Although spring does not officially arrive until March 20, spring-like weather has arrived, the sun is warm, and our students know it! It warms my heart to see a first grader skipping down the hall and middle school students outside, without their masks, smiling and laughing with their friends.

It is so important that we continue our safety and protocol requirements so that everyone is healthy and safe.
Receiving the vaccine does not mean we no longer have to wear a mask, wash our hands and keep a safe distance from others. Thank you again for reminding your children and supporting our efforts at MBTA. I very much appreciate it and am very grateful to you!

Please complete the Parent Survey that was sent to you via email. The survey closes March 29th. Thank you.

If you have not yet registered your student for the 2021-2022 school year, the special $150 registration fee ends tomorrow, Friday, March 5th. The school office is open from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. or you can call the school office for more information 847 623-4110.

Warm weather is on the way!

Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.
Dr. Saccaro

February 28, 2021

Dear MBTA families:
We have returned to weekly Mass at IC! Because of COVID, only one class of students participates in church at one time-all of the other classes participate via Zoom. The 8th grade represented MBTA at our first Mass of the year on Thursday, February 18, and this past week, the 7th grade attended. Each week a different class will attend in person. Our remote students are also able to log in too! After Mass, Fr. Rodrigo comes to MBTA to distribute communion to those who would like to receive. Praise God for this opportunity!

As you know, the second graders are preparing to receive First Communion on May 15th. Beginning Monday, the second grade will be leading our daily school prayers and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. They are very confident and are anxious for Monday to arrive!

The information that is posted on the MBTA Newsletter is also posted on our school Facebook page. The correct address for Facebook is: mostblessedtrinityacademy-MBTA. It very important that you add the
dash - to the address to join for MBTA news, updates, pictures, and events. Thank you!

Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.

February 26, 2021

Dear MBTA families:

                                                         GREAT News!

1. Because of the school office being closed due to Presidents Day, an Elearning Day, and a Teacher Professional Development Day, the deadline for the early registration discount fee of $150 is now
FRIDAY, March 5th! And let's not forget the record breaking cold days that kept many people inside!

Please share this news with new families you know who are planning to register their student at MBTA, and be sure to remind them to mention your name when registering so you are credited with the referral.

2. Registration for the new MBTA PreK program next year is now open! The preK student must be 4 years old on or before September 1, 2021. The family will be eligible for the sibling tuition rate and financial aid. Please share this exciting news with families who are looking for an outstanding Catholic, program for their child whose future will begin at MBTA!

Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.

Many blessings as we travel through these days of Lent with Jesus.
Dr. Saccaro

February 24, 2021

Dear MBTA families:
The temperature is above freezing and the snow is finally beginning to melt! It won't be long before the students will be outside for recess and running around in the fresh air, playing catch and soccer, jumping rope, and creating art with chalk on the playground-all signs of spring.

The second graders are beginning to prepare for First Communion and the 8th grade for Confirmation. As a Catholic school, we are so blessed to be able to prepare the students to receive the sacraments. The majority of our students who are Catholic have been baptized; those who have not been baptized may also prepare for Baptism while at MBTA.

The sacrament of Baptism cleanses us from original sin, the sacrament of First Communion nourishes us with the body and blood of Jesus, and the sacrament of Confirmation strengthens us, by the gift of the Holy Spirit, to live our faith and commit to being a follower of Jesus in all things.

Students who are to be confirmed are required to perform 20 hours of service. Please check the following website for volunteer service opportunities. www. fmsc.org/get-involved/volunteer

Together, with the student's parents and sponsors, we want the students to understand how important and meaningful receiving the sacraments are, and that they are far more than a ceremony. How grateful we are to be able to spread our faith to our students!

Registration for next year is continuing. Please be sure to take advantage of the discounted registration fee of $150 for 2021-2022 ends on March 1st.

Please continue to wear a mask, distance from each other, and use hand sanitizers or soap and water often.
Let us continue to keep MBTA a safe and healthy place to be!

Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.
Dr. Saccaro

February 14, 2021
Happy St. Valentine's Day! Though we most often think of this day as the day of romantic love and sweethearts and novios, it is also a day to remind us that as followers of Jesus, we are to be loving and compassionate to whoever God places in our path; in school, on the bus, at work, in the grocery store and at home. Jesus told us that loving people we like is easy; it is loving those who have perhaps offended us, harmed us, or people we simply do not like are those He asks us to love and care for...and forgive.

On March 13th, it will be one year that our lives at MBTA, in our families, and in our community changed in ways we never thought possible because of COVID. We will likely never take anything for granted or look at life the same way again. We pray for those who have lost family members, jobs, and income. As people of hope, we praise and thank God knowing things will be better.

Wednesday is Ash Wednesday and the beginning of the 40 days of Lent; a time of penance, reflection, and fasting. We will not be going to IC to receive ashes this year. Instead, the priest will come to MBTA to distribute ashes to the students and staff. Because of COVID, ashes will not be placed on the forehead but instead will be sprinkled on top of our head. All safety protocols will be followed.

Thank you to all who ordered MBTA Spirit t-shirts. The order will be in this week and you will be notified by the school office. Our first school Spirit Day will be Friday, February 19 when all students have their Spirit t-shirts.

Please share the exciting registration opportunities for next school year-the $150 registration fee and the Referral Program for our current families! The information is posted on the website and our school Facebook page. Please call MBTA if you have any questions.

Please always remember that MBTA is a school community ready to be of help to our families in any way that we can!

Stay warm and safe!

Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.
Dr. Saccaro

February 8, 2021

Dear MBTA Families and Community:
By now you know that the variant strain of the COVID virus has been identified in Lake County. This strain of the virus is more contagious so it means we must all be extra careful and be sure to wear a mask, wash and use hand sanitizer and keep distances.

Thank you to all who donated food for the parish MBT Food Pantry. The food collection was an activity held during Catholic Schools Week and was a great success!

Important dates this week:
Thursday, February 11         Teacher requested Parent-Teacher Conferences   3 p.m.
Friday, February 12              No classes              Teacher Professional Development Day
Monday, February 15           No classes              Presidents Day

If you would like to order an MBTA Spirit t-shirt, please send in the form that was sent home or call the school office between 7a.m.-3 p.m.

Registration materials for the 2020-2021 school year can be brought to MBTA between 7 a.m.-3 p.m.
If you have any questions, please be sure to call the school office 847 623-4110.

Remember: Your child's future begins at MBTA!

Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.
Dr. Saccaro

February 2, 2021

Dear MBTA Families and Community:
Every morning at MBTA, we begin our day praying together as a school community. In celebration of our Catholic faith during Catholic Schools Week, and our special devotion to Our Lady, we are praying the rosary together as a school from grades Kindergarten to the 8th grade. The rosary is lead by Mrs. Mors and an 8th grade student. What a privilege it is to be in a school where we can pray together every day!

Registration packets for 2021-2022 were sent home yesterday along with the new Spirit t-shirt.
We have had a number of requests from parents who would like to order an MBTA t-shirt too. An order form will be coming home today, so please follow the instructions and return the form with your check or cash by Monday, February 8 when the order will be placed. Thank you for supporting and wearing your MBTA Spirit with pride!

Important dates:
Thursday, February 11         Teacher requested Parent-Teacher Conferences   3 p.m.
Friday, February 12              No classes              Teacher Professional Development Day
Monday, February 15           No classes              Presidents Day

Please spread the good news about our amazing school, and the safe and affordable school that MBTA is!
A new program will be announced soon that will reward our current families who refer a new family that registers at MBTA for 2021-2022. Watch for more information coming soon!

All members of the MBTA staff have registered with the Lake County Health Department to receive the COVID vaccine. We have been told by the archdiocese that we will be receiving the vaccine in the next week or two. Thank you for your continued support and help in keeping our students and staff safe and healthy. I pray the day will come soon when we can see each other's smiling face!

Our Lady of Guadalupe,  pray for us.
Dr. Saccaro

January 29, 2021

Dear MBTA Families and Community:
Though we are not able to celebrate Catholic Schools Week the way we have done in the past, we are still looking forward to the week!

Each day will begin with the recitation of the rosary and a different intention each day:
Monday           MBTA staff and our school
Tuesday          MBTA students and their families
                Wednesday    Our Donors
                Thursday         Our Parish
Friday             Our Church and our country

Our Lady continues to bless and protect us, and we want to honor her during this week of celebration.

The Food Drive collection of non-perishable food to support the MBT Parish Food Pantry is Monday -  Friday. Donations may be brought by the student to school or brought to the main door of the school. We know it is a difficult time for many families and individuals. No one who lives in the United States should ever go hungry because they have no food.

KINDNESS and UNITY are themes for MBTA this year so you will see hearts and circles on the windows with messages of kindness, hope, and love.

All students will receive a new Spirit wear t-shirt and may wear Spirit wear, jeans, athletic pants (no yoga or exercise pants) during the week; Tuesday is Crazy Sock Day, Thursday is Favorite Hat Day, and Friday is Favorite Team or Character Shirt Day. We will be having a special treat on Monday and Friday before 12:30 p.m. and on Wednesday, all classes will be playing MBTA's version of Find The Number Game.

Thank you for your support and prayers for MBTA!

Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.
Dr. Saccaro

January 25, 2021
Dear MBTA Families:

As you have heard, the weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow is for a significant amount of snow.

To give parents time to make necessary arrangements and due to safety concerns, in person and remote classes are canceled for tomorrow, Tuesday, January 26th including TLC.

All students will be given school work to do at home tomorrow. In person students are bringing work home with them today, and remote students have the necessary materials at home.

Buses have been canceled.

Eighth graders are to have their graduation pictures taken on Wednesday as scheduled.

Thank you for your understanding. Stay safe!

Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.
Dr. Saccaro

January 21, 2021

Time change for remote 8th grade graduation pictures on Wednesday, January 27th
New time: 9:30-10:30 a.m.

January 21. 2021

Dear MBTA Families:
I hope you were able to watch some, if not all, of the Inauguration of President Biden and Vice-President Harris yesterday. We were able to watch some of the ceremony during classes. The students were so curious and asked excellent questions. Some recognized former President and Mrs. Obama!

President Biden is, and will be, an outstanding example for all of us as someone who lives their Catholic faith by everything he does. Praise God for President Biden!

IMPORTANT information for parents of 8th graders:

Graduation pictures:
The graduation caps and gowns have arrived! They will be distributed on Monday, January 25th to in person students. Remote students may pick theirs up anytime on Monday or Tuesday, the 26th.

Graduation pictures will be taken on Wednesday, January 27th
In person: 9 a.m.-10 a.m.
Remote    10 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Please park in the parking lot and walk to the Grand Avenue door. Please wear a
mask. Your temperature will be taken and hand sanitizer given before entering the building.

Students will be taking two pictures; one "dressed up" and the other in the cap and gown.

Young men are to wear a dress shirt and a tie-bow or long.
Young women are to wear a dress blouse or dress (no low necklines). The cap and gown for the young women also includes a collar that is in the packet and is to be worn for the picture and at graduation.

As has happened in the past, some times the young men needed a haircut before wearing the cap with the gown so the cap fits so please be sure to try the cap on!

The Sacrament of Confirmation:
We do not yet have a date for Confirmation but we are beginning to gather the necessary documents;
Baptismal certificate and First Communion certificate. Both are required in order to be confirmed.

Mrs. Vela is responsible for collecting the documents. They can be brought to the school beginning immediately.

The eight graders have chosen the name of a saint that would become their Confirmation name, and are looking for ways to complete the required 20 hours of service.

If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Cardona or Mrs. Vela.

Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.
Dr. Saccaro

January 20, 2021

Dear MBTA Families:

Today is a historic day; Joe Biden will become only the second Catholic in U.S. history to become president of the United States! The first was President John F. Kennedy. Mr. Biden will begin his day, as he often does, by going to Mass. What an important message he is sending to all of us; regardless of God's plan for each of us, we first put our trust in Him and thank Him for all that we have been given.

Mr. Biden's deep Catholic faith has also been of great comfort and strength to him during the personal tragedies he has experienced in his life. Do you know that he always carries a rosary in his pocket?

Let us continue to pray for Mr. Biden and Ms. Harris as they become the new leaders of our country!

Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.
Dr. Saccaro

January 16, 2021

Dear MBTA Families:

Yesterday ended the two weeks of all remote learning and on Tuesday, those students who were in person will return to the building and those who were remote will continue to be so. We are looking forward to seeing the projects that students created while they were learning from home. We will post the pictures that were already sent in, and we will take pictures of what students bring in on Tuesday. MBTA students are SO creative!

If your in person student borrowed a Chromebook, please be sure to return it on Tuesday.

Late yesterday, families received information via a robo call regarding free after-school clubs that are offered by Big Shoulders.  The information is posted on the MBTA website and on Facebook too. The clubs fill up very quickly so please register as soon as possible! This is a wonderful opportunity for students to continue learning something new and to interact with other students. There are many interesting topics for all grade levels.

Catholic Schools Week begins January 31- February 5th. The theme this year is Faith Excellence Service. The week gives us an opportunity to show our MBTA spirit and to promote MBTA in our community and to new families interested in MBTA. Sadly, we will not be able to have all of the fun activities that are traditions during Catholic Schools Week; the 8th grade/staff volleyball game, Wacky Olympics, however, we are planning other activities that will be announced this coming week!
If you have some ideas how we can celebrate and promote MBTA, please let us know!

Registration for the 2021-2022 school year will also begin during Catholic Schools Week too! Please encourage friends and family members who are interested in having their child attend MBTA to call the school office.

We have received requests from new families for tours of our school. Because of safety and health protocols, we are able to give tours but not when MBTA students are present. However, a group of our teachers are preparing a virtual video tour while school is in session. Visitors will be required to have their temperature taken, wear a mask, use hand sanitizer that is offered and maintain distance.

Let us continue to pray for peace in our country, and for the good health of all.

Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.
Dr. Sccaro

January 13, 2021
Dear MBTA Families:

Today is a second opportunity to apply for a Tax Credit Scholarship. Applications for an Empower Illinois scholarship will open later today.
Please be sure to designate Most Blessed Trinity Academy.
Please tell
your friends and other families, who want their child/children to attend MBTA as a new student, to also apply.
If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Cardona at MBTA.

In person and remote classes will begin again on Tuesday, January 19th like they were before Christmas break.
All safety protocols are in place; all in person students are to wear their mask, keep their distance from others, and wash their hands and use hand sanitizer. The safety and health of all is our #1 priority. Thank you for partnering together with us to make this happen!

If your in person student has traveled out of state or out of the U.S., and will return home after January 4th, he or she is required to quarantine for 14 days before returning to in person classes on January 19th.
As of today, the archdiocese requirement remains; there are no exceptions to the 14 day quarantine.

Though this requirement may be unpleasant to accept, thank you for understanding that it is based on continuing to keep everyone safe and healthy as students and staff return to the school building. Until we have all been vaccinated and the virus has been brought under control, we all need to continue to keep ourselves and each other safe and healthy.

Our students are so amazing! I have seen pictures of the projects students have been working on during these remote learning days-so creative, fun, unusual, and examples of the many gifts God has given to your children.
We look forward to displaying the projects and posting them on the website and Facebook!

Let us continue to pray for peace in our country and for the good health of all.

Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.
Dr. Saccaro

January 10, 2021
Dear MBTA Parents:

As we continue 5 more days of all MBTA students learning from home, please be reminded of two very important dates to apply for Tax Credit Scholarships this week: Big Shoulders on Tuesday, and Empower Illinois on Wednesday.

All information is posted on the website and on Facebook to help you prepare beforehand. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Cardona.

All remote classes will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday so that your family has the best possible internet connection to access Big Shoulders.

Please be sure to designate Most Blessed Trinity Academy as your school choice. Unfortunately, we have had some families who received a tax credit scholarship but who did not designate MBTA as their first choice; we were not allowed to enroll their child or change the name of the school afterwards.

Please tell your friends and other families, who want their child/children to attend MBTA as a new student, to also apply to both Big Shoulders and Empower Illinois for the 2021-2022 school year.

This is a very exciting time for our 8th graders! Acceptance notices from Cristo Rey/St. Martin, Carmel Catholic, and Woodlands Academy are beginning to be sent. I look forward to sharing the good news with you soon!

Let us to continue to pray for peace in our country and for the good health of all.

Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.
Dr. Saccaro

December 21, 2020

Dear MBTA Parents:
Today begins the 4th week of Advent, the first day of winter, the Winter Solstice, and an event that will not happen again until 2820-800 years from now!

Tonight, at approximately 4:23 p.m., right after the sun sets, take the family outside and look to the southwest sky to see what is called, by some, the "Christmas Star." Two planets, Jupiter and Saturn, will be so close to each other (450 million miles!) that it will look like one single star. Astronomers believe that the Star of Bethlehem that shone on the night of Jesus' birth, was three planets coming close to each other-Jupiter, Saturn, and Venus-that brightened the night sky.

As the 4th candle on the Advent wreath is lit, tonight is also the final Advent Family Night. Thank you to all who were able to participate. We hope you have enjoyed the various activities that the teachers planned.
We will continue other Family Nights in the new year.

Please remember:

If your student has been an in-person student, and is traveling out of state or out of the U.S., he or she is required to quarantine for 14 days before returning to in person classes on January 19th.
As of today, the archdiocese requirement remains; there are no exceptions to the 14 day quarantine.

Please mark your calendar:
ALL MBTA students begin remote learning on Tuesday, January 5th.
Monday, January 4th, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. will be materials pick up. Chrome books, for those who need one, will also be distributed on that day. Specific door locations will be coming soon.

Thank you for partnering with us to keep the children and MBTA staff safe. From August 24th, when classes began, until December 18th we did not have to quarantine an entire classroom or teacher because of COVID.
I'm so proud and very grateful to the students who took their responsibility for safety very seriously, and to the teachers, staff, and custodians who took on what some thought to be an impossible task.

As Las Posadas continues, let us each remember to be ready to welcome Jesus with open hearts and gratitude!

A Blessed and Merry Christmas to all!

Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.
Dr. Saccaro

December 16, 2020

Dear MBTA Parents:
I want to again share some very important travel information for you and your family as we get closer to beginning Christmas break, and for the two weeks of remote learning that begins January 5-15th.

If your student is currently an in-person student, and is traveling out of state or out of the U.S., he or she is required to quarantine for 14 days before returning to in person classes on January 19th.

Examples:
A student who has been attending classes in person at MBTA travels to Mexico with his family. The student participates in remote learning from January 5-15th while in Mexico. The family decides to stay in Mexico right before in person classes begin again on January 19th.
**The student is required to quarantine for 14 days and will be remote during that time.**

A student who has been attending classes remotely at MBTA travels to Florida with her family. The family decides to stay in Florida. The student
participates in remote learning from January 5th-15th from Florida, and continues as a remote student on January 19th when regular classes begin.
**No quarantine is required.**

The two weeks of remote learning are not intended to be an extended vacation. The archdiocese wants to give families the flexibility to travel, while learning continues, and COVID safeguards are in place so all can safely return to in person learning for those who choose that option.

Because school is in session January 5th-15th, regular daily attendance will be taken, and regular grades will be given. Each teacher has prepared an interesting and exciting 2 weeks of learning that students will enjoy.
The teachers will be sharing the information with you this week.

Reminder: Please take the opportunity to review the application for the Big Shoulders Fund Tax Credit Scholarship, and practice, practice, practice before the site closes on Sunday, December 15th!

If you have any questions about the travel requirements, remote learning days in January, or the Big Shoulders Fund Tax Credit Scholarship, please contact us. We are here to help!

Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.
Dr. Saccaro

December 15, 2020

Blessings of the 3rd week of Advent, with the lighting of the rose-color candle on Gaudete (Rejoice!) Sunday.
The excitement and preparation for the celebration of Jesus' birth is just 10 days away!

Today, all in-person students will be bringing home a bag with PPE (personal protective equipment), and a thermometer. We received a very generous donation of these items, and we want to be sure that each family receives one. Remote student distribution will be coming soon.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, students in grades K-7 will be bringing home a bag from Bernie's Books. This year the Family Pack contains books at different grade levels rather than a bag per grade. We are very grateful to the Big Shoulders Fund that provides books to our students at MBTA!

Please check the website and Facebook for VERY important information about the Big Shoulders Tax Credit Scholarships. From today, December 15th thru Sunday, December 20th you can practice completing the application as many times as you would like! There are also informational webinars on how to complete the application in January.  All of the information is in both English and Spanish. Practice, practice, practice!

Yesterday was a very historic day in America with the arrival of the COVID vaccine. It will be awhile before everyone is vaccinated so in the meantime, please continue to have your student wear their mask, wash their hands and understand the importance of distancing from others.  A student asked me yesterday if MBTA will require students to receive the vaccination. Excellent question! The answer is that at this time, the archdiocese has not said whether the COVID vaccination will be required to attend school.

If you have borrowed an MBTA Chromebook and charger, please be sure to return it to the school by Friday, December 18th. Thank you!

Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.
Dr. Saccaro

December 11, 2020
Dear MBTA Parents and Community:

Congratulations to the young men and women of the 8th grade class who are currently in 3rd place in The Big Shoulders Stock Market program! Big Shoulder volunteer university students Zoom with the 8th grade and teacher, Mrs. Mors. Our students are learning about financial responsibility, debt, and the stock market-all very valuable skills. Let's cheer on Team MBTA!

Reminder:
Wednesday, December 16                        Dismissal for all students at 12:35.  No TLC.   Buses will be here.
Friday, December 18                                  Last day to return MBTA loaner Chrome books and chargers
Monday, December 21-January 1             Christmas break
Monday, January 4                                    Materials and Chrome book (needed) distribution   11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Tuesday, January 5-15                               ALL MBTA students begin remote learning
Tuesday, January 19                                   In- person and remote classes resume

PLEASE NOTE:  The 10 days of remote learning in January are not an extended vacation. The archdiocese wanted families to enjoy their time together and/or to travel over Christmas. The 10 days are meant to ensure that anyone who travelled to a "hot spot" or out of the country would "quarantine" before school resumed on January 19th. The goal is to continue to keep everyone safe and healthy when returning to school.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding!

I extend my personal blessings to you, and to your family on the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe. We are grateful for her listening heart, protection and loving care of MBTA!

Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.
Dr. Saccaro

December 7, 2020

Dear MBTA Parents and Community:

Tonight is the second Advent Family Night for grades K-5th grade. The activity is focused on Our Lady of Guadalupe whose feast day we will celebrate on Saturday! Beginning Wednesday, I will begin reading the story each day of Our Lady's appearing to Juan Diego four separate times, ending with the miraculous roses and her image on his tilma. As we pray to her each day, I am grateful for Our Lady's protection, and for making MBTA a haven of joy, peace, and learning.

If you would like to participate with your family this evening, please contact Ms. Cardona or sign up on SignUp Genius.

On Wednesday, December 16 all classes will end at 12:35. Buses will be here at that time.

All MBTA Chrome books and chargers that have been loaned to remote students must be returned before Friday, December 18th, the last day of school before Christmas break. The Chrome books will be updated and maintenance completed before all students go to remote learning beginning on January 5-19th. More information regarding the distribution of materials and Chrome books will be coming soon. Please check the website and Facebook for updates.

On Friday, as a school, we prayed for our 8th graders who took the placement test for Carmel Catholic High School. We are confident that God heard our prayers for them!

Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.
Dr. Saccaro

December 2, 2020

Dear MBTA Parents and Community:

Blessings of the season of Advent; the season of hope, peace, joy and love. It is a prayerful time,
especially with all that has, and continues to happen this year. We pray that our hearts are open more each day in preparation to receive the gift of Jesus and to celebrate His birth.

Thank you to all those who participated in the first Advent Family Night on November 30. There are activities planned for the three remaining Mondays in Advent. Please contact Mrs. Cardona for more information.

As you know, the archdiocese made the decision that we would continue with in-person and remote learning at MBTA until December 18th, the last day before Christmas break. We continue to remind students to wear their masks, including covering their nose, wash their hands frequently, and distance themselves from others. Staying apart from each other seems to be the biggest challenge-we are a school of big and little magnets wanting to be closer to each other!

Important dates:

Saturday, December 5                Carmel Catholic High School placement test for 8th graders

Wednesday, December 16        Classes will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m.   No TLC
All MBTA Chrome books that have been loaned to students are to be returned

                                                      Materials pickup

December 21 -January 4            Christmas break

January 4-January 18                 Remote learning for ALL MBTA students

More information regarding materials pickup and will be coming soon.

Thank you for your help in keeping our students and staff healthy at MBTA. Because of your working with us, MBTA has not had to quarantine a class or a teacher since August 24th! Working together, for the good of each other, has worked. Thank you!

Let us remember to pray for our 8th graders who will be taking the placement test this Saturday for Carmel Catholic High School. May they relax, do their best, and trust in God's plan for them. They are an amazing group of young men and women!

Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.

November 26, 2020

Dear MBTA Parents and Community:
As we celebrate this day set aside for giving thanks, I would like to thank you and express my deep gratitude for the support and belief you have in MBTA. As principal, it touches my heart knowing the sacrifices you make to send your children to MBTA, where your child's future begins.

Though we are living in difficult, and sometimes desperate circumstances, we are asked to give thanks to God in all circumstances for what He has given to us. We are people of faith and believe that God will never abandon us.

May you and your family be blessed with a thankful heart on this Thanksgiving Day!

Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.

With a grateful heart,
Dr. Saccaro

We also know that Our Lady of Guadalupe watches  over us everyday as we offer our prayers, thanks, and petitions to her each morning when we pray as a school.

May God bless you, your family, and all those that you keep close to your heart. Please stay safe, be healthy, and take no risks so that we may all return to MBTA on Monday, November 30th.

November 17, 2020

Dear MBTA Parents:

Parent teacher conferences have been completed- virtually! It was a new experience for our teachers, parents, and students who participated. Thank you for signing on and partnering with us as your student continues to learn everyday, whether in person or at home. Working together, in partnership with each other, is the best way to help your student be successful. Please do not hesitate to call or email us if there are issues impacting your family that may be impacting your student. We are here to work with you!

Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.

November 16, 2020
Dear MBTA Parents:

On Friday, November 13, it occurred to me that it has been 8 months since our school closed due to COVID.
Eight long months of sacrifice on the part of many people, job loss, illness, death and suffering of far too many in our community, state, and country. We pray and ask God to watch over us!

School picture retakes are Thursday, November 19th!
Remote students who would like to have their picture retaken, please come to the Grand Ave. entrance
from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Parents, please park in the school/church parking lot as you did before and walk to the Grand Ave. entrance. Please be sure to wear a mask. Your temperature will be taken before entering the building. Thank you.

As of today, the archdiocese is planning to continue in person and remote learning until December 18th.
ALL students will be remote learners beginning January 4th-January 18th. We are much better prepared to provide remote learning than we were in the spring. More information regarding the two weeks in January will be coming.

The season of Thanksgiving, Advent and Christmas will be upon us very soon. The students and staff are reminded of how much we have to be thankful for-even if we have few material things. Jesus asks that we share what God has given us with others by our care, kindness, and concern and love for others. Thank you for helping us to share that message!

Our Lady Of Guadalupe, pray for us.
Dr. Saccaro

November 9, 2020
MBTA Parents:

With the increase in the number of COVID cases in our community, the state, and the country it is more important than ever that we are wearing a mask, washing our hands often, and keeping our distance in public places. We all look forward to the time when the COVID 19 is history but that time is not now.

Thank you for continuing to remind your student of the importance of following the safety rules, especially when in school. If your student is not feeling well or you know that he or she has been exposed to the virus,
please do not send your student to school. In order for us to keep MBTA open to in person learning, we have to work together to make sure the virus is not being spread in school.

This Thursday, November 12, all students will be released at 12:30 p.m. so that teachers can begin virtual parent-teacher conferences in grades K-8th. Friday, November 13, is our last professional development day for teachers in 2020. The archdiocese is requiring all schools to teach remotely from January 4th until January 19th so there will not be in person learning during that time. The Office of Catholic Schools wants families to be able to travel out of state or the country during Christmas, and to be able to quarantine before in person classes begin again on January 19th.

Our new president, Mr. Joe Biden, will be the second Catholic president in U.S. history. The first was President John F. Kennedy. Do you know that President-elect Biden carries a rosary in his pocket, and has done so since he was a child? His Catholic faith is very important to him, and it has helped him through the personal tragedies in his life. Let us pray that God will protect and guide our new leaders.

Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.
Dr. Lynne

November 3, 2020
MBTA Parents:
Thank you for continuing to help us keep our students and staff healthy. I am so proud of our students!
It is not easy to wear a mask all day, and keep a distance from their friends and teachers. They are following the instructions of the teachers, and are remembering to Mask up! Wash up! and Back up!
Great job!

On Monday, November 2, we prayed for, and remembered those in our families who have passed on and celebrated their presence in our lives. The first graders created their own ofrendas, and each grade learned about the religious and historical significance of Dia de los Muertos.

The application packets for our 8th graders, who have applied for admission to Cristo Rey/St. Martin and Carmel Catholic, have been delivered to their respective schools. We pray that each will be accepted to the next school that will help guide them in their future!

November is another busy month at our school!

November 6  No School (Professional Development Day for teachers)

November 8  Woodlands Academy Open House. Please check the school website woodlandsacademy.org

November 12  Parent-Teacher Conferences (Virtual) All students will be released at 12:30 p.m.

Please keep your student home if he or she is sick and not feeling well. One way we will be able to keep everyone healthy, and our school open for in person learning, is to not come to school or work when sick.
By continuing to work together, we will help each other be safe and healthy. Thank you.

Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.
