Dear MBTA families and friends:

Today is May Day, a day celebrated in Europe that celebrates spring and the rebirth of nature after the long winter months. Unfortunately, our weather has not been very spring-like though the flowers are blooming, the birds are chirping and leaves are beginning to sprout, so there is hope spring is really on the way!

This is National Teacher Appreciation Week! Please take the time to thank your child's teacher in some way. The teachers of MBTA stayed in the classroom to teach during the pandemic in spite of their own concerns and fears. The short time we were required to all be remote they continued preparing packets, books, activities to keep our students learning. A simple note of thanks, perhaps a gift card for coffee or lunch, any expression of thanks for an extraordinary job well done will be so appreciated by them. Thank you!

Mrs. Bagshaw's 4th and 5th grade science classes had the amazing opportunity to watch new life begin as the eggs hatched and the baby chicks emerged. At last count, there were 12 of God's new fuzzy, peeping creatures!

Today's Gospel (John 21 1-19) is a good reminder of God's patient love and forgiveness for each of us. During Holy Week we heard when Peter denied knowing Jesus, 3 times, on the night He was arrested. Peter was afraid and scared and abandoned his friend. In today's Gospel, Peter gets another chance to show his loyalty and devotion to Jesus when Jesus asks him, again 3 times, "Simon Peter, do you love me?" Peter responded "Yes" and was given the responsibility of beginning the Catholic Church. Every pope takes on the same responsibility, including our current Pope Francis. Jesus didn't give up on Peter and Jesus never gives up on us.

The 2nd graders and three 8th graders received the Sacrament of First Communion on Saturday, April 30. Praise God that they will now be nourished, and filled with the joy and peace of Jesus!

Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.

Dr. Saccaro
