A great learning tool that your child can use at home is
i-Ready.  We have been using it at school to learn Reading and Math skills.  The goal is to work on i-Ready for 30 to 45 minutes in each subject throughout the week, taking breaks when needed.  Your child will be excited to show you this website!
As always, please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for all that you are doing!!!

Hi K Families!
I hope that all of you are safe and healthy!  Thank you so much for working together at home!  Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!  We can keep communicating on the Remind App, by email at: tbiondo@mostblessedtrinityacademy.org, and now on this Kindergarten Class Web Page.

Here are some events that are happening this week:

Hi Kindergarten Team!
Happy Wednesday!
One of the most important things you can turn in today and Friday is the 8th Grade Graduation Gift you made!   🎉
Every year the 8th graders get to go on a trip, have a banquet (fancy dinner party), and graduate from MBTA in the Church with their family and friends.  This year is different because of the coronavirus.  They are missing out on these fun activities.  We are all missing out on something because it is important to keep ourselves and everyone else safe.  You are making great choices even when it is hard!  🙌😊
The gifts you made help the 8th graders celebrate!  You are having EMPATHY for them.  EMPATHY means you understand and care about the feelings of other people.  EMPATHY will help make the world a better place!!!
Remember the video we got to watch so many times?
We watched it so many times because it is so important!

Here it is again:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_1Rt1R4xbM

Good Morning Kindergarten!  😊
Today is Tuesday, May 26, 2020.  It is hard to believe that this is the last week of of the month of May.  I hope that everyone got to do something relaxing and something fun over the weekend!  The weather was beautiful!  😎
We are getting close to the end of the school year.  This week on Wednesday and Friday, you can turn in any finished work that you would like me to see.
We will be at Cristo Rey from 11 to 1 on those days.  Remember, you do not need to turn in your Religion and Math books.  Those are yours to keep.
For Religion this week, it is student choice in your Religion book.
For Reading this week, please continue to work on Raz-Kids and iReady Reading.
For Math this week, it is student choice in your Math book.  Please also work on iReady Math.
Weekly Challenge from Mrs. Meyer and Mrs. Diaz
Please make a Grateful List.  Write people, places, things, animals, and ideas in your life that make you happy.  A sentence starter for this list can be,  "I am grateful for _________________."
Please bring your list to our Zoom meeting on Thursday.
Thank you!!!

Please drop off the 8th grade graduation gift and any finished worksheets that you would like me to see.  You do not need to return the Religion and Math books.  I want K students to keep those.
I hope everyone enjoys the 3-day weekend!!!  😎

Good Morning K Team!
Today is Monday, May 18, 2020.  I hope everyone had a good weekend!  I also hope that no one's house/basement was flooded with all of this rain.
Thank you for watching the K YouTube video that showed how to make the 8th Grade Graduation Gift.  I can't wait to see what a great job you did!  🎉
You can drop off the gift and any other completed work that you would like me to see on Wednesday, May 27th and Friday, May 29th at Cristo Rey from 11 to 1.  You can also drop things off this week on MWF at the same time and place.  😊
Weekly Challenge from Mrs. Meyer and Mrs. Diaz
This week you are going to use your red and yellow counting chips to measure some objects (things) you have in your house.  Please choose 3 objects to measure.  Some examples are a toy, a TV remote control, or a cell phone.  Please write down the names of your 3 objects and how many chips it takes to get from one end to the other.  Bring your work to our Zoom meeting on Thursday.
Happy measuring!

This video will help.

Good Morning K Families!
Today is Wednesday, May 13, 2020.
At Cristo Rey today, there is going to be a learning packet pick up for PreK to 5th grade from 11 to 1.
The K packet includes the materials for an 8th grade graduation gift.  🎉
I will be sending a video soon that gives directions for making the gift.  I will also be sending a video giving the directions for the materials in the bag with the red plate in it.  You don't have to do anything with those 2 bags, yet. 😊
The rest of the materials are for you and your Kindergartener to work on together.  Please use these activities in a way that works well for you and fits into your family's schedule.  You can complete the pages in the Spring packet in any order...student choice.  Instead of, "pick a card, any card," you could say, "pick a page, any page." 😂
Reading pages are in the front half of the packet.  Math pages are in the second half.  Enjoy as many, brain, body, music, dance, outside, and hug breaks as you need and want.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.  Is there anything overwhelming or confusing?
Thank you for everything!!!!!

Good Morning K!  😎
Today is Monday, May, 11, 2020.  I hope that everyone had a great weekend and a nice Mother's Day!  Maybe some of you got a chance to work on your weekly challenge...build and decorate a house for one of your stuffed animals.  We can't wait to see your houses at our Zoom meeting on Thursday!
For Religion this week, I am going to send you some video links about Baptism.  Please watch the videos and then complete Chapter 17 in your Religion book.  Chapter 17 starts on page 69.  You can spend some time talking with your families about your Baptism stories and look at pictures.  If you haven't been baptized yet, you can talk about that also.  Remember, Jesus loves everybody!
For Reading this week, please continue to work on Raz-Kids and iReady.
For Math this week, please continue to work on Chapter 9: "Classify Objects," and on iReady.  Chapter 9 starts on page 531.
Thank you for working so hard!  We will see you on Tuesday at our Zoom meeting.  🐱‍🏍😁

Hi Kindergarten!
I know that I'm not supposed to bother you on Finish Up/Fun Fridays.
I'm just excited about your next challenge!  😁
Mrs. Meyer and Mrs. Diaz wanted to give you their weekly challenge a little earlier than usual because you might want to collect some materials this weekend and get started.
Calling all artists, architects, and engineers!!!
This week's challenge is to build and decorate a house for one of your stuffed animals.
What materials can you use?  Here are some ideas:  tissue boxes, Legos, cereal boxes...
Your ideas will be great!
Please have your stuffed animal house ready for our Zoom meeting on Thursday.
Have a great weekend and remember to say, "Happy Mother's Day," to your Mom on Sunday!!!  🌹😊💖

Hi K Team!  😎
Today is Wednesday, May 6, 2020.  I hope that you enjoyed Cinco de Mayo yesterday.  Did those videos help you celebrate?  🎉
I enjoyed talking about adjectives at our Zoom meeting.  You did a great job brainstorming words to describe "Mom."
Please keep working on i-Ready.  You can complete the weekly challenge by working for at least 30 minutes in the subject of Reading and at least 30 minutes in the subject of Math.  I took a sneak peek 👀 at your progress, and some of you already completed the challenge!  Woo Hoo!!!  🐱‍🏍🙌

Good Morning K!  😊
Today is Monday, May 4, 2020.  Did you watch the May video by Jack Hartmann?
Please watch it and make a list of events that happen in May.  Don't forget a title for your list, and please send me a picture when you are finished.
I hope that you and your family got to spend some time outside this weekend.
The weather was sunny and warm.  The words "sunny" and "warm" are adjectives.  Adjectives are describing words. We are going to learn more about adjectives this week.  👍
Weekly Challenge from Mrs. Meyer and Mrs. Diaz
This week Mrs. Meyer and Mrs. Diaz challenge all of you to work on i-Ready Reading for at least 30 minutes and on i-Ready Math for at least 30 minutes before our Zoom meeting on Thursday.  Here is one way to do it...If you work 10 minutes in each subject on Monday, on Tuesday, on Wednesday, and on Thursday, you will have a total of 40 minutes for Reading and 40 minutes for Math.  That completes the challenge!  We will check your progress and will celebrate with a Zoom scavenger hunt.  It will be so much fun!  🎉

Hi K Families,
I think it turned sunny because of all of the fantastic Spring illustrations that your children did!  Thank you for encouraging and supporting them with our Zoom meetings and activities!  😎

Hi Kindergarten!
Today is Tuesday, April 28, 2020.  It is still the season of Spring, and boy is this Spring rain helping the flowers grow and the grass turn green.
Thank you for continuing to check in with me each day!  And now I want to check in with you.  😊
I wanted to ask if anyone needs school supplies, food, or anything else during this crazy time?  Please let me know how I can help!
Again and again, thank you for working so hard with your children!  I'm going to continue assigning pages in the Religion book and Math book.  Please keep reading on Raz-Kids!
I found another K packet that gives practice on the skills that are learned in K.  It is similar to the one your child completed before, but it is not the same.  :)
Please let me know if you would like a copy of the packet for your child or if you need anything else to make teaching and learning at home easier for your family.  💖

Good Morning Kindergarten Team!
Today is Monday, April 27, 2020.  I hope that you had a nice weekend.  Maybe you got to go outside.  If you went outside, did you notice any signs of Spring?  When I look out my window, I see buds growing on the trees in my yard.  Buds are the beginning of something new growing.  Some buds grow into leaves and some buds grow into flowers.  I was really able to hear another sign of Spring this morning because I left my windows open.  Those birds get up early.  😊
Weekly Challenge from Mrs. Meyer and Mrs. Diaz
This week, Mrs. Meyer and Mrs. Diaz are challenging you to find signs of Spring and illustrate them.  Remember, illustrate means draw.  If you can't go outside, you can find signs of Spring by looking out of your window and by listening.  Please bring your illustrations (drawings) to our Zoom meeting on Thursday so that we can share them and talk about them.  We can't wait to see you and your signs of Spring!  👀🌹

Good Morning Kindergarten!
Today is Wednesday, April 22, 2020.  Happy Earth Day!
Please check Remind and your email for links to videos about Earth Day.
Thank you for continuing to learn together at home!  👍👏😁

Hi Kindergarten Team!
That was a fun Zoom meeting!  Let's do it again on Thursday!  🎉😁
Please check Remind or your email for information about special assignments on Freckle and for the log-in information for the Reading website, Raz-Kids!  🐱‍👓

Hi K Families,
I want to start this message by saying that I am sad that Kindergarten in the MBTA classroom is not going to happen for the rest of the school year, but please know that the teaching and learning will continue!!! 👍
We will have 2 Zoom meetings each week on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:30.
For the meetings this week, Amaryllis' Mom had a great idea!  If you would like, you can wear your school uniform to the Zoom meetings.
We will be learning about three-dimensional (solid) shapes in Math and  Kindergarten now has a new website called Raz-Kids that we can use to read books independently (by yourself) and together. 🎉
Another new and exciting adventure this week is something called:
Weekly Challenge from Mrs. Meyer and Mrs. Diaz
This week, Mrs. Meyer and Mrs. Diaz are challenging you to watch a Jack Hartmann learning video on 3D shapes and then go on a scavenger hunt around your house to find 3 things.  (The video link will be sent on Remind and by email.)
1. something that is shaped like a sphere (ball)
2. something that is shaped like a cylinder (can)
3. something that is shaped like a cube (square box)
Please bring these items to our Zoom meeting on Thursday.
It will be so fun to see what you find!
Thank you for continuing to check in with me daily on Remind, through email, or through a text.  I will continue to use Remind and email this week to send key details about the log-in information for the Raz-Kids website and the pages to work on in the Kindergarten Religion and Math books.
Thank you for all that you are doing at home!!!
Mrs. Diaz, Mrs. Meyer, and I miss you and love you!  😊💖

Hi K Team!
Today is Thursday, April 16, 2020.
We did it!  Yesterday our whole class was able to come to Cristo Rey High School to pick up learning materials.  Thank you! 👏🎉
A fun way to check in today is to be at our K Zoom meeting!  An email will be sent to your families with the key details.  I can't wait to see your faces! 😊
Please remember that if today is Thursday that means that tomorrow is Friday!
Friday is a day to celebrate all of the hard work you did on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  The whole day is Fun Friday!!! 😁

Good Morning Kindergarten,
Today is Wednesday, April 15, 2020.  I have a good check-in question for you.
Can it snow during the season of Spring in Illinois?
Please come to Cristo Rey High School today from 11 to 1 to pick up another K learn-at-home packet.  Go K Team!  😊

Hi K Team,
Today is Monday, April 13, 2020.
I hope everyone had a Happy Easter! ✨
I'm sorry to bother you on your day off!  I just have a few announcements:
1.  We are going to have a Kindergarten Zoom meeting tomorrow at 11:30.🐱‍🏍
I will send an email tomorrow with the link and details.
2.  Starting tomorrow, Dr. Saccaro has asked us to ask you to check in daily with your teacher.  It is like taking attendance.  You can message me on Remind, email me, or text me.  Sending a selfie would be fun. 😊
3.  On Wednesday, April 15th, please come and pick up a K learn-at-home packet.  The packets will be at Cristo Rey High School from 11 to 1.  You can also pick up some food and drop off any work that you have finished and want to turn in.  I would love to see your hard work!
4.  Also starting next week, there will be no classes or lessons on Fridays.  Now the whole day is Fun Friday! 🎉
As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!
Thank you! 😊

Good Morning Kindergarten,
Today is Thursday, April 9, 2020.  I am so happy that I have been able to see all of your faces.  You are all doing a great job learning at home!  👍
Today is Holy Thursday.  On this day in the past, Jesus had The Last Supper with his friends.  I will send you a link to a video that will help you learn more about this special day.  Please listen for the vocabulary word,
disciple.  Disciple means a follower and friend of Jesus.  How many disciples were at The Last Supper with Jesus?
Tomorrow is also a special day.  Tomorrow is Good Friday.  On that day in the past, Jesus died on the cross.  When you are watching the video about Good Friday, it might make you feel mad and sad when you see how some people treated Jesus.  It is hard to understand why sometimes people do bad things, but please remember that Jesus forgives them.  Also remember that Jesus knew this was going to happen, and the ending of the video is very happy. 😊
Who returns at the end of the video?  You can answer this question by filling in the blank in this sentence.  __________________ rises from the dead.  ✨
After you watch these videos, have a grown up ask you 3 questions about each video so that you can impress them with what you learned.  Here is a hint that might help...the main character in both videos is Jesus.  :)
After your hard work today, you have 4 days off: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.  You get to celebrate Easter on Sunday!!!
Mrs. Diaz, Mrs. Meyer, and I wish you and your families a very Happy Easter!!!💖

Hi Kindergarten Families,
I was just on a Zoom meeting with the other teachers at MBTA.  We are going to try a K Zoom meeting next week!  :)
Please let me know if you need anything...school supplies, food, books to read.
We will get through this together!

Hi Kindergarten Team,
Today is Monday, April 6, 2020.  I know that you are going to keep working in your learn at home packet this week.  You have been doing a great job with that!  We are also going to focus a lot on the subject of Religion this week by learning about Holy Week.  And, guess what?  You already started learning about Holy Week yesterday when you watched the video about Palm Sunday.  :)
Holy Week is the week before Easter, and it started yesterday on Palm Sunday.  During Holy Week, I will send your families links to videos so that we can learn more about these very special days.  Remember how much Jesus loves you and wants you to love each other!

Good Morning Kindergarten!
Today is Sunday, April 5, 2020.  We are still in the season of Spring.  One sign of Spring is the birds I hear chirping outside of my window. :)
Today is a special day as we get closer to Easter.  It is Palm Sunday.  Palm Sunday is also called The Triumphal Entry.  I am going to send 2 links to your families on Remind or email.  One link will connect to a video about Palm Sunday.  Did you know that Jesus rode into a town called, Jerusalem, on a donkey?  That is just one key detail in the story about Palm Sunday.  Please watch the video to learn more key details.  You can make a word web when you are done watching.  The main idea/topic is.....Palm Sunday.  Put that in the middle.
The other link will connect you to a Palm Sunday Mass that you and your family can watch together.  Thank you to Elizabeth's family for sharing this information with us!
I hope that you enjoy time with your families today learning about Jesus and Palm Sunday!  We love and miss you!

Happy Sunny Morning!
It might feel like Spring weather today!  :)
If we were in school, today we would have Music class.  I found a video that you can watch today about Music.  I hope you like it!  :)
Parents:  The link is on Remind and/or in your email.  Thank you!!!

Good Morning Kindergarten,
Today is Wednesday, April 1, 2020.  You know what that means...you can watch the Jack Hartmann April video on YouTube!  Yay!!!  After you watch it, make a list of the events (things that happen) in April.  Remember to give your list a title.  "Events in April" is one idea for a title.  You can use a different title if you want.
I know that our class always has more than one idea because we are great thinkers!  Remember to use your best Kindergarten writing.  One event that isn't in the video is Spirit Wear Day.  This Friday, April 3, is Spirit Wear Day.  Please wear your blue MBTA shirt while you are learning at home.  I would love to see pictures of your April list and you wearing your blue MBTA shirt!
Remember how special you are!  Mrs. Diaz, Mrs. Meyer, and I miss and love you!

Hi K Team,
Today is Monday, March 30, 2020.  We are back to learning at home!  :)
Remember how we talk about Monday mornings being hard sometimes?
This Monday morning is after Spring Break so it might feel a little extra hard.  That is OK if you feel that way!  Just remember how smart you are and remember that Kindergarteners can do hard things!  Instead of "hard", let's use the vocabulary word, "challenging."  Who is up for the challenge?  WE ARE!!!  :)

Hi K Team,
Today is Friday, March 20, 2020.  That is a pretty fun date sentence.  It just has 2s and 0s.  Make sure when you are learning today that you remember to take brain and body breaks.  Everybody needs those.  Jack Hartmann and GoNoodle have great movement videos.  I just watched Poppin' Bubbles on GoNoodle.  :)
Dr. Saccaro has named today - Finish Up Friday.  What does that mean?
At 2:00 today, whether you are finished or not, put your pencils down, know that you tried your best, high five your teachers at home, and start Spring Break!!!!!
You have worked hard!  I will be enjoying my Spring Break at home just like you.  Have fun and love each other as much as we love you!!!

Hi Kindergarten Team,
Today is March 19, 2020.  Happy first day of Spring!  Look at this sign of Spring I found when I was taking my garbage out.  Yes, teachers have chores, too.  :)
Challenge:  Tell someone at home the names of the 4 weather seasons and write them down.
Then, blow their minds (idiom), and tell them the Church season we are in.
Here are 2 clues:  It begins with the letter "L" and helps us prepare for Easter.
Mrs. Diaz, Mrs. Meyer, and I miss you!!!
MBTA pick up and drop off schedule for Friday, June 5th.

Parents are to enter the parking lot from West St. and exit on Hickory.
Please have all return items in the trunk of your car in a paper bag.
Please keep the Chromebooks and charger separate.

Schedule:
PreK, 1st, 2nd grade.      8:30-9:30
2nd, 3rd, 4th                    9:30-10:30
5th, 6th                            10:30-11:30
7th, 8th                            11:30-12:30
